Summertime is the most carefree season of the year. Our concerns about heating, insulation, wet weather and ventilation become problems of the past. The warmer months is actually a great time to make your home as healthy as possible before winter kicks in. We have put together a couple of easy things you and your whanau could do to make your home healthier. Tip 1 – Wash curtains and heavy blankets Curtains are susceptible to grow mould due to the close proximity to windows. Like most things, once mould grows it becomes difficult to remove. Thoroughly wash curtains, heavy blankets, duvet inners and quilts and leave outside to dry. This will allow fresh air to flow in and out the fibres. This needs to be done regularly, so keep an eye out for sunny days during winter as well. Tip 2 – Airing the house Keeping windows and doors is the easiest (and cheapest) way to ventilate your home.
